The Specialized Demo Race mountain bike with a 29″ wheel in the front and a 27.5″ wheel at the rear is the perfect downhill bike: 200 mm travel in the front and rear, suspension elements from ÖHLINS, downhill-specific SRAM 7-speed gears, Magura MT7 brakes and, of course, the geometry of the aluminium frame – everything is designed to ensure performance and control on wild downhill rides. The Demo’s chassis has been optimised with regard to the rear wheel axle to avoid getting stuck when hitting obstacles, and to maintain high speeds at all times. The combination of a larger front and smaller rear wheel combines best traction with top handling; thanks to the adjustable dropouts, you can also ride the bike with two twenty-niners. The ÖHLINS steel spring shock with extra strong trunnion mount and external low speed compression and rebound adjustment feels at home on the most demanding tracks. The suspension fork also ensures that hard impacts are perfectly absorbed and that you won’t get knocked off-track by bumps. No wonder the Demo Race has already celebrated victories in both the Downhill World Cup as well as the World Championships.

The Specialized FSR linkage design is based on a four-joint design with Horst Link in the chainstay, which separates the seat stay from the main pivot point of the rear triangle. This allows the pedal and brake force to be decoupled from the suspension, so that the compression and rebound are solely dependent on the nature of the terrain. This not only converts more energy into forward drive which is direct and without rocking, but also leads to more traction and thus more control. In addition, the FSR system can be fine-tuned to all the possible areas of applications and terrains.
