FGD – Functional Groove Design
The tread pattern inspired by motorsport, which has not only an aesthetic function, is inspired by the tread pattern of the Diablo Supercorsa, one of the best SSP tyres (SuperSport class of the World SuperBike racing series) by Pirelli. Angles, cross sections and spacing of the tread pattern have been carefully studied to optimise its performance in water drainage, dry and wet grip, mileage, responsiveness, ride comfort and handling. The tread pattern resembles lightning and forms very acute angles in the centre of the tread with pronounced lateral openings on the sides for optimised water drainage and smooth rolling and even wear. In addition, the tread pattern has progressive depth for enhanced durability and optimum control even during extreme cornering.
