Continental celebrates its 150th anniversary with an OPEN NEW U.P. gravel bike made of carbon that is second to none. The heart of the bike is the proven Terra Trail tyres in the Orange-Cream Special Edition. They are 40 mm wide and offer perfect grip on gravel. They also show fast rolling behaviour on asphalt. The additional ProTection layer increases puncture protection.
Tyres alone do not make a high-performance bicycle, which is why special attention was paid to component selection. Each NEW U.P. carbon frameset from OPEN has been hand-painted and is unique. The colour scheme and design play with the different surfaces and elevation profiles of the gravel world in combination with the classic Conti yellow.
You will also benefit from the crankbrothers dropper post, regardless of terrain. On downhill runs, simply engage the handlebar remote for drop bars and thus lower the Terra Argo X3 gravel saddle from Fizik. This affords you a lot of safety, especially on singletrack descents. Returning to the starting position, you can pedal freely forward.
The hand-laced bc original RAVeL wheels are extremely stable and amazingly light. They are made for long gravel runs as well as for trails or fast sprints on the road.
The linchpin of your drivetrain is the particularly-light Shimano Hollowtech crank. However, other Shimano GRX RX810 components will also help you to achieve all your goals. You can reach high speeds with 40 teeth on the chainring and the 11-42 cassette on straight stretches, but also steeper ramps and longer climbs should not pose a problem.
