Balanced performance: the Pro4 Service Course folding tyre from Michelin
The Michelin Pro4 Service Course offers a successful compromise between performance and a long lifespan. The engineering goal for this tyre was to increase speed, safety, agility and puncture protection compared to the preceding Michelin Pro3 Race. The Michelin Pro4 Service Course also features two different rubber compounds for both the tread and tyre shoulder, the so-called two-component technology. Further improved rubber compounds with new elastomers and silica components increase the grip on the tyre shoulders. The width-optimised treads and the tapered tread contour optimise the tyre contact area in curves and thus provide additional grip. The new tread contour also increases the agility. At the same time, the robust rubber compound in the central area of the tread – the part of the tyre that is exposed to the most stress – enables the long life of Michelin Pro4 Service Course. The tyre also owes its resistance to puncture wounds to the high density nylon fabric layer under the tread.

Michelin Bi-Compound
Bi-compound technology is an innovative two-component rubber compound in one and the same tyre!
The rubber compound in the centre of the tread allows for very good torque transmission, acting as a ” motor” when the rear wheel accelerates or as a ” brake” when it slows down. These rubber compounds have been developed and optimized to ensure both high abrasion resistance and safe braking on wet surfaces.
The rubber compounds on the shoulders of the tyre allow very good performance and safe cornering thanks to excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces.
